I've taken 280+ Waymos since moving to SF August 1st 2025. I gathered every email receipt and reconstructed each ride and its data here. The free rides that started in June are thanks to the Trusted Tester Program by Waymo where rides in the Ojai are fully comped for a limited time.

The $10 promos beat the $5 promos — but both are rounding errors next to the 100%-off comps, which erased $3,912.52 across 165 completely free rides.
That's 628 crossings of the Golden Gate Bridge, or 2.8 drives to Los Angeles — at an average door-to-door speed of 10 mph across the whole year. The robots are careful.
The CO₂ works out to about 13 tree-years of absorption, or roughly half of one economy seat flying SF → New York. The longest single ride covered 52.5 miles.
*By Waymo's own accounting: avoided emissions vs. a gas car at 207 g/mi, assuming 1.5 passengers. Grain of salt included free with every ride.
